Expansion update 09/10/2006
As of now, the foundation, walls and overall exterior structure are ready. The Internal walls, electrical, plumbing, flooring, and ceiling works is being worked on. The JSMC Board and the Construction committee are working very hard to keep the construction work on schedule while dealing with the various construction challenges.
The Prayer Hall, Dining Hall, Classrooms, Offices and all other rooms will be ready for use by November 2006. The Main Temple will be ready by June 2007. The Inauguration and the Pratishtha Mahotsva dates will be announced soon.
Fund Raising by JYFC
Chicago Jain Youth and Young Adults will be contacting various Chicago Area Jain Family one on one to explain the benefits of temple expansion and how members can help various ways.
Piggy Bank Distribution
Each Pathshala students were given Piggy Bank to collect money regularly. This is to encourage and involve each and every Jain youth in the temple expansion project. We hope to bring a sense of pride amongst our youth and society members.
Brick Laying Ceremony: Inspite of a hot day, this event completed successfuly. All the pathshala students led the procession around the temple area followed by dignitaries such as Shri Rakeshbhai Jhaveri, Indian Consul General Surendra kumar, Mayor etc.. JSMC Committee members, Mahila Mandal and many adults participated in the procession.
At the conclusion of the procession, dignitaries addressed the gathering, followed by each pathshala student laying bricks. Many JYFC volunteers helped in this event under the leadership of Tejas Shah.
